Description
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide that mimics the active region of Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a naturally occurring protein involved in tissue repair and regeneration. TB-500 is designed to promote cell migration, angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and reduce inflammation which are key processes in healing muscle, tendon, ligament, and skin injuries. Its primary mechanism involves upregulation of actin, a protein critical for cellular structure and movement, which enhances tissue remodelling and repair.
Preclinical animal studies have shown that TB-500 accelerates wound healing, improves heart tissue recovery post-myocardial infarction, and supports corneal and skin regeneration. For example, a study published in FASEB Journal (2004) showed Tβ4 promoted cardiomyocyte survival and improved heart function in a mouse model.
